Authorize.Net is one of the versatile solution for eCommerce solution. It is one of the oldest one which helps in both as payment gateway as well as card processing. Its helps us in automated recurring bill system, checkout process, managing customer information etc. It helps us build our virtual point of sale terminal. In our organization we used it for capturing cards and it is very easy to search customer transactions and reports.
  • payment gateway
  • multi currency
  • anti fraud management
  • checkout process
  • card processing
  • High price
  • reporting
  • separate merchant account requirement
  • customer support
Authorize.Net is extremely reliable and very easy to setup the system. Mobile application is very good and free of cost. Capturing card and managing customer information is really handy, we can generated different types of reports on it and searching anything is a breeze. Security features are top notch and there is free of cost virtual terminal as well.

We use Authorize.Net in some of the eCommerce platforms we manage. Since we work with Magento, it's natively integrated with the system, saving us a lot of headaches in the integration process of a payment gateway (which is never easy). Its main purpose is, of course, to be the payment gateway for credit card online transactions.
  • Very good integration in Magento
  • International circuit (can accept credit card from different countries)
  • Quick capture process compared to other gateways
  • Their admin website could use a revamp
  • Recurring payments are difficult to setup
  • Fees are not the best in the market, but not the worst
Authorize.Net is a perfect solution when you need to implement it in a small to medium eCommerce. It allows you to process payments on an international scale, and it's perfect when the sale process has no special requirements. Since it can be used for physical POS, you can have a single solution for your shop and your website.

So I was actually recommended to use this by a client! I was building a website for a local client, and normally use a WooCommerce and Stripe for my payment platform and processing, rather than Authorize.net. However, my client already had a payment processing company that handled their on-site retail sales, and that provider asked me to use Authorize.net to allow everything to run together smoothly, rather than having 2 separate payment companies. While my experience with Stripe is only via e-commerce gateways, I was impressed at how smoothly the implementation happened with Authorize.net - and my client has seemed very happy with everything working on one provider.
  • Smooth implementation
  • Good customer support (as per my client)
  • Ease of use for customers
  • Unfamiliarity as a contractor; although this was my first and only time implementing it, so it could just be that I'm not used to it
  • Fees
  • Universality; from what I've seen, services like Stripe and PayPal are compatible with more platforms.
For this specific use - a business that has a retail location as well as an online e-commerce store - Authorize.net has been great from what I've seen. My client does most of the work facing Authorize.net and he has been thrilled with it. His payment processing company strongly recommended Authorize.net for when they developed an e-commerce platform.. as a web designer, I don't see a HUGE difference between other providers, but he seems very happy and says that everything works very smoothly between the retail store and the website.

When our donors call in to make a donation, we use Authorize.Net to complete credit card transactions. In addition, donors who receive our annual report can send back a remittance envelope with their credit card information written on it, which we then use Authorize.Net to process. Lastly, we have fees for some of our services and have thought about using Authorize.Net to allow people to pay fees with a card instead of cash.
  • Credit card authorization
  • User friendly platform
  • Phone payments
  • Price to use
  • Not integrated with our other platforms (website)
  • We are unsure of the full range of services available to us
We are a nonprofit organization and use Authorize.Net to complete donation transactions. Sometimes our donors call in to leave a donation via credit card or leave their credit card information written on a remittance envelope sent to them in the mail. The main feature we use is to process credit card transactions.

Authorize.Net helps us in accepting payments from our users in our e-commerce portal. They provide the best solutions in Online payments, Mobile payments, eCheck payments, Virtual point of sale. There different modes of payments facilities are best in the market and make them the first choice. The interface is very easy to integrate and works best. I highly recommend this.
  • online payments
  • Mobile payments
  • ecommerce payments
  • Should work more on website functionality
  • Should provide ease in authorization
  • Should work on customer support
It provides easy and secure payment solutions. The payment process is very quick and performs in real-time. The navigation is also good. They should work on the website design part to look better. They should consider the pricing part (make affordable) for start-ups and small business owners. Customer support is their weak part.

I have a home inspection business and customers pay by credit card 90% of the time. Once an inspection is scheduled, an email is generated asking the customer to follow a link in order to sign an inspection agreement and make payment by credit or debit card. In my business, not taking a credit card is not an option, merely a matter of choosing which payment processing platform we choose to do business with.
  • Reliable
  • Established
  • High data encryption security.
  • Very difficult to establish account.
  • Initial setup was time-consuming and not user friendly.
  • Processing times are not consistent.
Authorize.net is reliable and I feel confident that customers' information is protected. The security protocols used by Authorize.net appear to be as good, and probably better than many credit card payment processors. However, the initial setup process was very difficult. I distinctly recall getting up and running as being very cumbersome and time-consuming. I also was disappointed with how the processing and deposit of payments were not consistent. I distinctly remember regretting the decision to go with Authorize.net. However, as mentioned before, with the time and effort required to get the account set up and running, I refused to go through the process again and try a different provider.

Authorize.Net is used as a gateway to other accounting systems in the company. Prior to that and in some occasions we use it to run credit cards directly though the system without having the physical card in hand. Authorize.Net "tells" us if there is an immediate issue with the credit card number, or if the transaction went through. A detailed report is emailed at the end of the day or next day.
  • Stores credit card information in encrypted format
  • Works great as a payment gateway to other systems, such as Wave
  • Maintains a payment history
  • Handles monthly repetitive transactions
  • Can run transactions anytime I need to
  • Good support system
  • Could be easier to research payments
  • I rarely have to call them. Maybe a checklist when you start using
  • Integration could be simpler
We do not have a credit card machine, everything is done inhouse, on the Internet. With Authorize.Net I do not have to be concerned with PCI compliance, as that falls to Authorize.Net. We manually run our credit cards and Authorize.Net allows us to do this quickly. If there's an expired date we are notified, if there the credit card declines, we are notified as soon as we run the card. With declined cards, because they are stored on the Authorized.Net we can contact the customer, update the account and set a future time for the transaction if necessary. I don't see a situation where is would not be appropriate to use.

We use Authorize.Net as our payment processor for both our in-house bespoke ordering system, and for out online shopping cart in BigCommerce. It replaced another processor, Transaction Express. Authnet provides the features and security that we need while also maintaining a low overhead cost for our company. We haven't been able to beat their fee schedules with any alternatives yet. They've always been very reliable and easy to work with as well.
  • Very smooth workflow to authorizing, capturing, voiding, and refunding charges. This can all be done via API calls, or through their online dashboard.
  • Their AVS settings for validating credit cards are substantial and have been reliable in ensuring that our customers cards are being used safely and properly.
  • Their uptime and response times are very good in general. The only issues we ever have communicating with their services is when our connection quality is compromised.
  • Their webhooks that provide automated alerts on transactions, subscriptions, and other events are less than reliable. We had significant difficulty with them not arriving consistently, and when they are missed they can be very difficult to regenerate.
  • It is probably more related to banking guidelines, but it can be frustrating when a customer pays up front for an item on backorder, and then has to cancel their order later. Depending on the length of time, Authnet may not allow the refund to be conducted to the card.
  • I think this is also on the individual card issuer, but some of the errors for card declines are opaque. There are very transparent and specific errors available, but a lot of issuers just provide back a generic "please contact card issuer" instead of giving a reason for a decline.
Authnet is extremely good at providing API accessibility for authorizing and capturing transactions. We used their API to connect to our bespoke in house ordering system. This was a critical implementation for us, and was not reliably available from many other providers at that time. They have been consistently reliable and are mostly ahead of the game on implementing important features. On the opposite end of the spectrum, their webhooks for providing automated alerts are very unreliable. We were relying on them to capture information on automated recurring billing events, but they were so unreliable we had to retool the system and completely eliminate the ARB aspect. We resorted to leaning on internal scheduling jobs combined with tradition API calls to make transactions instead.

We used it as a corporate card for our expenses, mostly used for team lunches and business stuff. This is on a trial period for a few months.
  • Monthly statements sent to emails for easy tracking
  • Discrepencies are sorted out easily with any dispute on transactions or amounts.
  • Very relaible customer service, as easy as calling, explaining and solution
  • Monthly statements sent to emails for easy tracking

  • Very reliable customer service, as easy as calling, explaining and solution
I don't see any needed improvements, as far as I know they're one of the most secured payment options. You can always question any doubted/suspicious activities, they have been able to always get back with more details on any transactions.

I use consult my clients to use Authorize.net to connect their payment processor to various interfaces including apps and websites.
  • Authorize.net has a fairly seamless connection for a large variety of websites & apps
  • Their virtual terminal is simple, but also fairly easy to use
  • When working with a web designer, I've been told that Authorize.net is a little complicated to install.
The great thing about Authorize.net is it's widely recognized and accepted as a gateway for payment processors and websites or applications. The cost is minimal as well. It's a good service when a customer wants to keep their existing website or application, but wants to change the native payment processor that is available. I don't suggest it as a stand alone processor as there are many more services that provide better virtual terminal processing capability for lower cost.

With Authorize.net we can easily install a payment processing platform that can help capture credit card payments along with any additional data needed in a Wordpress website using a plugin for e-commerce or online payment forms. Is a good solution for online businesses that want to start accepting credit card payments with less hassle than other payment gateways.
  • All payments are automatically sent straight into bank account almost instantly!
  • Is a reliable and secure payment processing company with robust security protocols to help against chargebacks.
  • It has very good compatibility with wordpress plugins such as woo-commerce or gravity forms.
  • It lacks embedded HTML code for inserting payments forms in regular HTML websites.
  • Authorize.net has a $25 monthly fee for their services which is a bit pricey.
  • The dashboard doesn’t have the best user interface, making it difficult to navigate.
Authorize.net is the perfect choice for businesses looking to process credit card payments with a reliable and trusted processor that can also be used internationally, it has state-of its art hardware terminals so you don't have to worry about accepting your customers' funds or risk any fraud on their end either!

We currently use it as our main payment gateway for our eCommerce credit card transactions. Our eCommerce platform is the Magento/Adobe Commerce platform.
  • We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express transactions on Adobe Commerce.
  • We use Authorize.net's CIM (Customer Information Management) system to securely store customer credit cards for future orders.
  • Authorize.net's APIs are relatively simple to integrate with other internal systems.
  • We have multiple eCommerce and traditional retail channels. Authorize.net does not allow us to easily link the different accounts together.
  • Authorize.net doesn't allow us to capture multiple times off of 1 authorization.
  • Authorize.net's customer support is relatively basic.
If you are a relatively small e-commerce establishment, then Authorize.net will more than meet your needs. However, if you are a multichannel retailer, Authorize.net's tools may be too basic for your needs.

We use this solution to process credit card payments and assist us in selling gift cards at two of our shopping centers. This solution has made it easy and quickly process payments online. We needed a solution to process payments for selling American Express gift cards and completing the payment process.
  • Quick processing of payments
  • Easy to navigate portal for payments
  • Secure payment portal
  • It would be nice to have a more modern website for login
Authorize.Net is a great solution for online and mobile payments. This has allowed us to process credit card payments from customers at two of our shopping centers. Our entire organization is currently utilizing Authorize.net. Our Chase bank representative set it up for us when we were looking for a new way to run credit cards. It may very well have many other capabilities, but receiving credit card payments is the only part of the website that we use. And it is convoluted and quite possibly the worst user-friendly option I have ever experienced.
  • It does, in fact, run credit cards. And the fund do somehow end up in our account.
  • You are able to customize what email notifications you receive both for individual transactions and end-of-day.
  • The website is atrocious. I don't think any of the developers have ever actually used it.
  • The credit card information it asks for is also difficult as it doesn't ask for the usual pieces of information but does ask for others that aren't usually required. But that may all be simple security settings and is simply irritating rather than an actual problem.
It has worked fine for us for the simple running of credit card payments that are taken over the phone. It would most likely not be convenient as a POS as it takes entirely too long to type in all of the customer's billing information, firstborn, blood type, next-door neighbor's mother's maiden name...okay, the last three aren't actually needed, but it sure feels like that's how much information it asks for every time. :)

We use authorize.net to charge our clients for our services. When a company first becomes a client, they fill out a DocuSign, which has an integration with authorize.net. When they fill out our service agreement, there's also a separate section where they input their billing information directly into authorize.net so our team never sees it.<br><br>Later we can use authorize.net to automatically charge their cards for their payments. It's very secure and keeps us PCI compliant.
  • Authorize.net is good for getting billing information and having it secured with a 3rd party. Most platforms allow them to pay but not for you to be able to charge the card later when needed.
  • It has integrations with a lot of platforms and that is good.
  • It allows you adjust security settings and a lot of important enterprise features.
  • The interface is ugly and not intuitive.
  • It makes you constantly change your passwords, although that is understandable.
It's great if you need to record billing information for future payments. It's a lot easier than having to send invoices and waiting for the clients to pay every time. Of course, if you're prepaying or something like that, I wouldn't think authorize.net is necessary. Once you get to $10,000/month in credit card transactions, that's when you'd want to look into things like authorize.net from what I understand.

We use Authorize.Net as our payment gateway. Clients can use it to pay their invoices through an easy online integration but we also plug it into our eCommerce platforms. It allows us to be able to receive payments without having a physical card present. It also increases the security around credit card numbers because we're not having to take down the information.
  • Security, anti-fraud features
  • Flat rate pricing
  • Customer service
  • No long term contracts
  • Multiple currency support
  • The website could be a bit more user friendly.
  • Some of the available options can be a little confusing at times.
It is great for when you need to receive payments but you don't have the ability for the cardholder to be physically present. It is also great for eCommerce sites. Authorize.Net is one of the more widely known payment gateways so I've found that most popular eCommerce platforms already have an existing integration which is really nice.

Our accounts receivable department uses Authorize.Net to process credit card transactions. We have a different processor that we use for the majority of our transactions, but there are certain limitations with this other platform, so we use Authorize.Net as a supplementary service. One of the situations in which we use Authorize.Net is when a single transaction is for invoices on multiple accounts. With Authorize.Net it is easy to allocate the funds across different accounts. Authorize.Net also does not limit the dollar amount for transactions, which is very helpful for our high-billing customers.
  • Authorize.Net is extremely secure. The advanced fraud detection suite is great at preventing chargebacks and fraudulent transactions.
  • Authorize.Net processes transactions very quickly. The funds are deposited quickly as well.
  • Authorize.Net does not limit the size of transactions.
  • Authorize.Net can process transactions is many different currencies, which is especially helpful for a global company such as the one I work for.
  • Authorize.Net is much more expensive than other services offering basically the same thing.
Authorize.Net is best for mid to large size companies that need to process large transactions and are worried about fraud or potential chargebacks. Small businesses are probably better off going with a different option since there are many less expensive options out there that offer very similar features for credit card processing.

  • Interface is very outdated
I would not recommend it - based on my experience there are much better providers. Authorize.Net is one of the oldest payment gateways and it is starting to show, the interface is old and there were constant service interruptions. It was also a hassle to fight chargebacks on this system.

We implement Authorize.net as a payment gateway in a variety of situations, but primarily for ecommerce sites. I work with it primarily in an implementation, customization, and troubleshooting capacity. Authorize.net provides a secure and lower-risk method of collecting payment information online. Using Authorize.net can reduce PCI compliancy concerns for websites and businesses, and provide a cost-effective means of secure payment processing.
  • Security
  • Customer Service
  • Variety of Implementation methods, SDKs and APIs
  • Testing Methodology
  • User Interface
  • Documentation
  • Plug and play solutions
If there is a third-party plugin or ready solution available, then typically integrating Authorize.net is very easy with that. In a more unique situation, a programmer might be needed. If collecting and/or saving payment, customer, and billing information, Authorize.net will likely fit well - possibly with some add-ons (such as CIM). Storing additional information may or may not be supported.

I used Authorize.net to complete development of the payment portal cycle using Authorize.net API and AngularJS modules. It was being used for a specific product that I was developing at Macate Corp. (through Innominds). Essentially, there’s no one out there setting up gateways at the same scale as Authorize.Net. They provide a ton of free add-on features, including fraud prevention filters, a simple checkout system, subscription/recurring billing and customer information storage for shipping addresses and payment info so your customers won’t have to reenter it every time. They also provide e-check processing (even without a merchant account) for an extra fee.
  • There’s a lot to love about Authorize.Net. They provide a ton of free add-on features, including fraud prevention filters, a simple checkout system, subscription/recurring billing and customer information storage for shipping addresses and payment info so your customers won’t have to reenter it every time.
  • They also provide e-check processing (even without a merchant account) for an extra fee.
  • I also like that you can use the AuthNet virtual terminal with a USB card reader.
  • The lack of data portability is a big issue for me.
  • Authorize.net uses the same $49.00 gateway setup fee to scam merchants out of money, which is no better than any of the other gateways out there.
  • Their customer service is not up to the mark. You can get stuck if you need any help from their end.
While other gateways (like Braintree) are a little fresher and more innovative than Authorize.Net, no one has the track record that AuthNet has. Plus you have to consider that if you want to use the Braintree gateway (or many others) without using their payment processing, you are stuck paying $49 per month plus $0.10 per transaction just for the gateway, which for many is just not cost effective. Authorize.Net, on the other hand, is often offered as a substantial discount from resellers, making it very attractive. Other unique features like their mobile app add to the appeal.

Authorize.net was used to process and store donations taken through the company website for our non-profit organization. It was used primarily by our fundraising department, with support from the IT department. Authorize.net was used to collect one-time donations, as well as process recurring (monthly, quarterly, yearly) donations. Our organization also used Authorize.net to collect tuition payments for our in-person classes.
  • Authorize.net does a great job of storing customer information in a simple, easy to find way. I could easily search for customers by name, email address, mailing address, or customer ID and find all previous payments they made.
  • Authorize.net's customer support team was always helpful and quick to fix issues. Whenever I emailed and contacted them, I was confident that I would get a response that same day. They provide support through both email and live chat, which is great.
  • I found Authorize.net to be competitively priced and even cheaper than many of its competitors. The fees were reasonable and in line with industry standards and there were no "hidden fees".
  • Authorize.net's user interface is far below average and feels like it has not been updated since the early 2000s. It's difficult to find the needed tools. It takes a lot of training to get new users up to speed and using the platform. In general, Authorize.net is in need of a major site re-design.
  • Authorize.net's Recurring Billing feature is unreliable. There is not a way to filter by time-frame (monthly, yearly, etc.) and canceling subscriptions is only possible one at a time. The platform would often duplicate customers instead of adding billing details to the already existing customer.
  • Importing, exporting, and uploading content into Authorize.net is difficult. Content must be formatted in a very specific manner. Because of this, I do no recommend Athourize.net to anyone who has large amounts of data it wants to transfer to or from the platform.
Authorize.net is well suited for a small businesses that plans to collect a lot of payments. It accepts all the major credit cards and works flawlessly in processing the payment quickly and accurately. Its low fees work well for a large volume of payments. Due to it's difficult importing and exporting settings, Authorize.net is less appropriate for growing businesses that are looking to use analytics to leverage it's success. It's also less appropriate if you plan to offer subscriptions or payment plans.

I used Authorized.net's payment gateway service for an e-Commerce site with a nopCommerce framework. Before Authorized.net, I used FirstData payment gateway service until we found out that FirstData couldn't do address verification properly. Therefore, the team and I decided to switch to Authorize.net. Ever since, all the online payments are properly processed by Authorized.net and it has even prevented fraud with fake credit card payments. I integrated Authorized.net over a Microsoft .Net C# platform and the integration process was easy.
  • It worked very well with Address Verification System which we needed the most for our online customers to validate credit card payments.
  • As a technical lead, integration with Microsoft .Net platform is easy for both a sandbox and live environment. I appreciate Authorized.net for its sandbox environment and SDK to test. So I was able to prove the payment integration service to business users.
  • PCI compliance is of utmost importantance for our eCommerce site, but we're not ready yet to implement the infrastructure. Authorized.net has the PCI compliance that we need.
  • Authorized.net's administration web site UI is very primitive while a lot of web sites are adapting to a modern UI design.
  • Sometime my business users don't know how to use Authorized.net's admin site to manage customer transactions. That's where the usability issues are.
  • I know sandbox is for testing, but sometimes I couldn't test a few scenarios in a sandbox environment. I received a server error and process failed error message with my test credit card intermittently. It is really important for us to test all possible scenarios, and Authorized.net's sandbox is the only environment we can rely on.
So far, I'm happy with Authorized.net. Our eCommerce site is running well and there is nothing to complain about it. It is suited perfectly well for us (eCommerce team) to implement a payment gateway integration. It also worked for our business team who don't need to worry about fraudulent [transactions] and implementing a PCI compliant infrastructure.

We use authorize.net to handle all of our credit card transactions. We have two accounts one for our inside sales group and another for our ecommerce transactions. This allows us to keep a tighter security on our ecommerce transactions while making it easier for our inside sales people to do business with our trusted clients.
  • Easy to implement
  • Great customer service
  • Always informative and lets its user base know when there may be issues
  • Uptime
  • Fraud security
  • Speed
It is great when you have an issue and need it resolved. The customer support team is excellent and very responsive. It is not so well suited for detecting fraud. The fraud suite is broad and it seems as its an all or nothing approach to limiting fraudulent transactions.
